AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE a.s. (Aero) has signed a contract for  the delivery of twelve L-39NG jet trainer aircraft and related support services with the  Hungarian Defence Forces Command. The first aircraft will be delivered to the  customer in 2024.

The Czech manufacturer will deliver a total of twelve aircraft, with eight aircraft delivered in  the trainer configuration and the remaining four in the reconnaissance configuration. The  reconnaissance configuration is equipped with an EO/IR system for identification and  tracking of stationary and moving objects on the ground.

“The L-39NG is undoubtedly one of the best trainer aircraft in its class. The aircraft is a part  of a complex training system, which uses modern technologies and systems for the training  of fourth and fifth generation fighter pilots. We are very pleased that our flagship product,  the L-39NG, will become an integral part of the Hungarian Air Force. With many Czech  suppliers involved in the development and production of this modern platform, we do believe  that a conclusion of this contract to be an important milestone for the whole Czech aviation  industry. All of us at Aero are very proud of this achievement and we look forward to  delivering the L-39NG to our Hungarian customer. Together with the Hungarian contract,  Aero is now contracted to produce and deliver almost 30 brand new L-39NG aircraft and  with further serious customer negotiations taking place, this number could rise by additional  dozens aircraft in the next few years,” said Viktor Sotona, President and CEO of Aero

Both parties agreed not to disclose the amount of the contract.
