Embraer - India Expansion

New Delhi, May 30, 2025 – Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer has formally announced the launch of a wholly owned subsidiary in India, marking a major milestone in its strategy to deepen engagement with the Indian aerospace and defense ecosystem.

The new subsidiary will be based in AeroCity, New Delhi, and serve as a hub for corporate functions, engineering, procurement, supply chain, and service support teams. It reflects Embraer’s long-term ambition to tap into India’s growing demand for modern aviation capabilities, not only in defense but also in commercial and business aviation, and emerging areas such as urban air mobility.

“India is a key market for Embraer, and this expansion demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the country,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President & CEO of Embraer. “We are excited to deepen our collaboration with the Indian aerospace and defense industry, leveraging our expertise and technology to contribute to the nation’s growth and Make in India efforts.”

This announcement builds upon the MoU signed in February 2024 with Mahindra Defence Systems, aiming to jointly explore the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program using the C-390 Millennium—a next-generation, multi-mission tactical transport aircraft with Full Operational Capability.

India already operates nearly 50 Embraer aircraft across 11 different types, including:

  • E175 and ERJ145 aircraft with Star Air – enhancing regional connectivity

  • Legacy 600s used by the IAF and BSF for government and VIP transport

  • Netra AEW&C system, based on the ERJ145 platform, in service with the Indian Air Force

On the commercial front, Embraer sees significant potential in serving tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India with its E-Jets family, optimizing thin routes and helping airlines scale regional networks.

In addition, Embraer will participate in the IATA AGM 2025 in New Delhi, reinforcing its growing strategic interest in India and its commitment to long-term collaboration between Brazil and India in high-value aerospace manufacturing and services.
