ISTEC and SiNAB Sign Collaboration Agreement to Advance Integrated ISR, Counter-UAS and Communications Capabilities
British platform integration specialist ISTEC Services Ltd has signed a collaboration agreement with Australian defence technology company SiNAB Pty Ltd, bringing together complementary expertise in weapon integration, advanced mission systems and rapidly deployable operational capability.
The agreement is designed to support the delivery of next-generation integrated Counter-UAS, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and communications capabilities for military customers across international markets. It combines ISTEC’s long-established experience in platform integration and precision-engineered weapon mounting systems with SiNAB’s advanced airborne mission systems, real-time data exploitation and agile development approach.
SiNAB, an Australian-owned aerospace and defence engineering company, develops advanced mission systems for military and civil applications. Its Phoenix Mission System is a self-contained airborne mission system delivered through an external pod and deployed on aircraft already in service. The system integrates sensing, mission processing, communications and operator control into a single platform, supporting operational and training applications including Counter-UAS, ISR, targeting, JTAC training and tactical communications.
The modular architecture of the Phoenix system enables deployment across a wide range of aircraft and mission profiles. This gives operators a flexible and rapidly deployable capability that can be adapted to changing operational requirements without the need for extensive platform redesign.
ISTEC brings 37 years of operationally proven experience in the design, manufacture, supply and support of complex weapon integration solutions across land, sea and air domains. The British-owned company is best known for its Universal Gun Mounts, which have been fitted to platforms including WMIK, Mastiff, Viking and Jackal, and are in service with the UK and international customers including the United States, Canada, the UAE and European and NATO partners. ISTEC systems are also widely used by the Royal Navy and have more recently supported rotary-wing integration projects in the air domain, including work for the US Department of Defense.
Tony Landers, CEO of SiNAB, said the agreement reflects a wider shift in capability delivery. Operators are increasingly seeking systems that can adapt quickly to changing mission demands, particularly where real-time multi-domain awareness is required. According to Landers, the collaboration brings together ISTEC’s integration expertise and SiNAB’s mission system capabilities to deliver adaptable ISR and communications solutions across key markets.
Mark Batchelor, International Sales and Business Development Manager at ISTEC Services, said the agreement also strengthens ISTEC’s growing network in the Asia-Pacific region. He highlighted SiNAB’s product portfolio as a strong basis for future cooperation, particularly where complex integration solutions are required to meet customer needs.
The collaboration comes at a time of growing demand for integrated ISR and communications capabilities able to operate across air, land and maritime environments. This requirement is especially visible in the Indo-Pacific, where military forces face complex, distributed and rapidly evolving operational conditions. By combining proven platform integration with modular mission-system architecture, ISTEC and SiNAB aim to offer customers adaptable capability packages suited to both current operational requirements and future mission growth.
